Curriculum Materials

A Toolkit for Teachers and Teacher-Librarians

Ann Dutton Ewbank, Education Liaison Librarian at Arizona State University West Campus, and Linda Alkove, 7th/8th Grade Teacher-Librarian at Cholla Middle School, have created curriculum materials for Teachers and Librarians to facilitate the discussion of Danger in the Desert in the classroom and in programs. These curriculum materials will allow the teaching of Danger in the Desert to have an impact in the classroom, to instill a love of reading, strengthen comprehension and to prepare children for emergency situations, which is the core theme of the novel. The materials have aligned Danger in the Desert curriculum to the Arizona Academic Standards in 4th-8th grade in the areas of technology, comprehensive health education, and social studies.
