“This is a remarkable record of a time of great change for a group of people with a way of life that was already very ancient. Reading the story brings tears and also a sense of great pride as a member of Ethel’s tribe.” –Marlene Sekaquaptewa, Third Mesa, Hopi Nation
“This beautifully edited volume is certain to become a major contribution to Hopi studies and to Hopi and Tewa family and clan histories. It is a classic story of Hopi reciprocity: a letter for a letter and a gift for a gift. This volume is a gift to the reader. How will you reciprocate?” –Hartman Lomawaima, Past Director of the Arizona State Museum
